About 1Print

As a clean tech company, 1Print is on a mission to replace out-dated infrastructure and construction processes with advanced technologies, products, and services—delivering positive economic, efficiency, and environmental outcomes. 1Print Infrastructure offers you never-before-possible 3D concrete printing (3DCP) in complex shapes rather than fixed, pre-set molds.

1Print is a new type of infrastructure and construction company. We provide fast product development, less expensive on-site manufacturing, and a quick path to mass scale. Our cutting-edge approaches will help you preserve your shorelines (near and offshore), restore aging land infrastructure such as water management systems and more, and help advance the residential/commercial construction market in new ways.

Our target markets include DOD, DOT, DOE, federal, state, and local government agencies, large civil and coastal engineering, and architectural firms, and building materials companies who require off-the-shelf and custom coastal resilience solutions and a range of products and services. We also offer on-site/in-situ manufacturing that can be scaled up quickly to eliminate long lead times, and costly transportation and storage.

The Challenges

Pressing needs face today’s coastal areas and structures—from rising sea levels and increased climate-related weather events such as floods and hurricanes to complex and cumbersome regulatory issues with multiple stakeholders needing to approve permitting. Coastal cities and national security assets need solutions that go beyond conventional gray infrastructure approaches and need these quickly—yet current lead times, production at scale, and customizable options (unique component shapes and sizes) have not been available.

There is much the same story with existing, aging land infrastructure such as water management systems that need to be replaced.

  • How do you address today’s crumbling infrastructure while making communities more resilient to the impact of climate change?
  • How do you incorporate more innovative approaches and natural systems that offer higher quality, lower cost, and more resiliency?
  • How do you create a more beneficial approach to society rather than simply maintaining, replacing, and repairing gray infrastructure?

There is a better way with 1Print Infrastructure.

Our vision

We see a future where our products and services will help global partners and customers innovate solutions that will—for the first time ever—truly harmonize with the natural environment.

Our vision is to revolutionize infrastructure manufacturing and construction by designing and producing at scale 3D concrete products on-site, and off-site, in never-before-possible shapes and sizes that will meet the important needs of today’s climate challenges and new infrastructure needs. Our Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), environmentally sustainable solutions range from robotics to advanced concrete materials, machinery, and off-the-shelf products and a range of custom design-build services.

At 1Print, we’re reimagining, re-engineering, re-thinking resilience. We’re all about creating the future of infrastructure and construction.

Breaking the mold—starts here.

Dr. Landolf Rhode-Barbarigos

University of Miami, Associate Professor

Landolf is an Associate Professor in Civil and Architectural Engineering at the University of Miami, and inventor of SEAHIVE®, and an advisor to 1Print on structural and pilot support. He is an expert in structural morphology, which investigates the relationship between structures, as well as their form, function, material, and forces. He focuses on lightweight structures, such as tensegrity systems, as well as coastal applications, including ecofriendly solutions for shoreline protection. His research has been funded by NSF, NIST, NCHRP, DARPA, among other agencies, including the prestigious NSF CAREER award. He is also the lead engineer and PI of the SEAHIVE® system which was developed through a National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis (IDEA) funded project.

Dr. Prannoy Suraneni

University of Miami, Assistant Professor

Prannoy is an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami, in Engineering Career Development, and an advisor to 1Print on material support and grant management. He leads the Advanced Cement Chemistry, Engineering, Sustainability, and Science Lab (ACCESS Lab), focusing on making concrete infrastructure sustainable, durable, and resilient. He earned his PhD, MS, and BTech in civil engineering from ETH Zurich, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and IIT Madras, respectively. He has published 96 peer-reviewed international journal papers and has received funding from various organizations, including NSF, NIST, NCHRP and DARPA. Prannoy serves as an Editorial Board Member for ASTM Advances in Civil Engineering Materials and Cement and Concrete Research and as an Associate Editor for Materials and Structures. His research interests include materials science, chemistry, and engineering of cementitious materials, infrastructure sustainability, durability, resilience, and marine infrastructure.
